With my semester break on and a lot of free time in my hand- I decided to get some content for this page. However, I had some pretty strict criteria. I didn’t really want to engage in something long-term, nor did I want to write something stupid. Basically, something I might read myself!
So I got on different social media platforms- Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and even LinkedIn( YES!) to get a feel of what people are looking for nowadays. So, after an hour or so, I realized why not, instead of writing on a single topic, get an entire compilation of weird facts! There you go, here is a list of the Top 5 Quirky Questions People are Asking Right Now.
1. Why Were Cornflakes Invented?
No, this is not a scam! People all over the world are searching for this and I have no clue why! With 301K searches in the US alone, the origin of cornflakes has become more popular than the cereal itself.
Digging a little deeper, I found some even stranger answers to this question. According to Wikipedia, “John Kellogg wanted food that would be healthy for the patients of the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan where he was superintendent. The breakfast cereal proved popular among the patients, but Will Kellogg wanted to add sugar to increase the popularity.”
However, some websites claim John Harvey Kellogg invented Cornflakes in 1878 hoping that plain food would stop people from masturbating. Wait, What?
2. Where Am I?
I know where I am, and probably you know too. Or do you? But the fact is, more than 1.21M people in the world have no clue where they are! No wonder drug usage has become so rampant in the past few months!
However, when I searched it online the answers were pretty logical. A snapshot of Google Maps telling me exactly where I am right now. Well, yeah maybe these are just people who have no idea where their Uber driver dropped them. If that’s the case- May the Lord be with You, my Friend!
3. How Are You?
Yes, I am fine too! But it’s not about you and me- don’t be that selfish! Not only is this one of the most searched questions on Google, but YouTube also has an enormous amount of content regarding this. Here is an example!
Faraday and Tesla used to argue about whether DC or AC would be the future of humanity. Getting up in the morning and searching “How Are You?” was probably too big for their imagination!
4. How Tall Is Peppa Pig?
Most of us have watched Peppa Pig at some point in our lives. For those who grew up in the ’90s, remember those large pink pig toys with a weird nose at Hamley’s? That’s her.
Curiosity killed the cat. But not us, apparently. With more than 201K searches in the US itself, this question proves that humans aren’t terrified to ask questions. But are we really asking the right questions? Well, that’s relative. (Don’t go searching )
(PS: Some websites say Peppa pig is 3’9” (three feet nine inches) tall. While that’s acceptable, most websites have claimed that she’s over 7 feet tall. If that’s the case, Big Shaw vs Peppa Pig is something I can’t wait to watch. My money’s on Peppa!)
5. What Time Is It?
Okay, let me clear out a few things here. This didn’t have anything else attached to this, for example, What time is it in Arizona? Well, that is a question that would make perfect sense. However, almost 2 million people globally went up on Google(which means they DO HAVE a laptop or a phone) and typed those four words. And looked for the time exclusively.
Looks like people are even more bored than I am!
So, here we’ve covered the Top 5 Quirky Questions People are Asking Right Now. I had quite a laugh, and I hope you did too! I’ll be coming up with more such content soon enough. Till then, stay tuned to our website AlertsBuzz.com.
