We all have heard about Rahat Indori. Be it deep Urdu poems, or his paintings- we’ve all appreciated his works at one point of our lives or the other. However, we have some news for you that’ll break your heart. Rahat Indori died of cardiac arrest at the age of 70 in Shri Aurobindo Hospital, Indore on 11 August 2020. Just a day before, he had also tested positive for Covid-19. After Irrfan Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, the demise of this Urdu legend is no less than a black day in the field of fine arts.

Well, his contributions to Urdu poetry, sher, nazma and geet have indeed been remarkable. He wasn’t just a writer, but a true scholar as well! Indori Saheb held a Ph.D. in Urdu literature from Bhoj University and used to be a professor at the prestigious Devi Ahilya University, Indore.
However, all of this doesn’t change the fact that he came from a humble background being born in the house of a cloth mill worker, Rafatullah Qureshi. He is survived by his wife, Seema Rahat and his four children.
