However, we have some news for you that’ll break your heart. Rahat Indori died of cardiac arrest at the age of 70 in Shri Aurobindo Hospital, Indore on 11 August 2020. Just a day before, he had also tested positive for Covid-19. After Irrfan Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, the demise of this Urdu legend is no less than a black day in the field of fine arts.

Well, his contributions to Urdu poetry, sher, nazma and geet have indeed been remarkable. He wasn’t just a writer, but a true scholar as well! Indori Saheb held a Ph.D. in Urdu literature from Bhoj University and used to be a professor at the prestigious Devi Ahilya University, Indore.

However, all of this doesn’t change the fact that he came from a humble background being born in the house of a cloth mill worker, Rafatullah Qureshi. He is survived by his wife, Seema Rahat and his four children.
